Position Summary:
The Safety and Security Specialist is an integral member of the retail operations team. This role is responsible for providing security and loss prevention assistance by ensuring a visible security presence and performing routine security inspections throughout the sales area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome customers as they enter and exit the premises while managing access to the location.
- Foster a welcoming and secure atmosphere for all patrons through effective communication and collaboration with the retail team.
- Oversee all store operations and promptly address any security and safety issues that arise.
- Aid in minimizing loss and safeguarding assets by upholding stringent operational protocols.
- Participate in all store meetings and events.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders to ensure all parties are updated with relevant information, including local law enforcement, mall security, and other retailers.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols during fire alarms and emergencies.
- Evaluate and assist in the development of security measures for the store, including emergency response plans.
- Complete and submit incident reports, health and safety evaluations, operational control checklists, and action plans.
- Conduct security assessments aimed at preventing property loss.
- Provide training for new hires and ongoing staff education to enhance store loss prevention awareness.
- Support initiatives that uphold brand standards in product delivery and merchandising.
- Collaborate with the Senior Loss Prevention Manager to influence brand strategies for loss mitigation.
- Maintain the standards for store security equipment.
About You:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a security role within a retail environment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and emergency protocols.
- Previous experience in Loss Prevention is preferred.
- Valid first aid and CPR certifications are required.
- Possess a Security Guard License or be willing to obtain the necessary licensing.
- A collaborative team player with a demonstrated growth mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping, report writing, and observational skills.
- Exceptional judgment and decision-making capabilities.
