About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team as a CAMHS Eating Disorder Specialist. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing assessment and therapy services to children and young people with eating disorders.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Therapy: Provide Family Therapy for Eating Disorders and CBT for Eating Disorders to children and young people with eating disorders as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  2. Psychological Therapy: Provide psychological therapy focused on common psychological maintaining factors for eating disorders, such as anxiety, mood problems, perfectionism, poor self-esteem, and emotion regulation difficulties.
  3. Consultation and Supervision: Provide consultation and supervision to the team as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 2000) as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence.
  • Family Therapy for Eating Disorders experience.
  • Experience of working within a clinical psychology service with patients with eating disorders, providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients, including outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working within a clinical psychology service with patients with childhood mental health problems, providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients, including outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Experience in data collection, audit service evaluation and research methods.
  • Knowledge of relevant theoretical models and psychological interventions relevant to the needs of patients with eating disorders and/or childhood mental health problems.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and quantitative data analysis as practiced within the field of psychology.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in relation to the patient group.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
  • High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
  • Skilled in joint work with other mental health professionals.
  • Familiarity with SPSS databases and statistical packages.
