Role Overview:

As a Project Controls Manager, you will play a critical role in the success of our Rail Consultancy team. You will be responsible for managing project or programme controls work to deliver defined objectives, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage project or programme controls work to deliver defined objectives.
  • Develop and implement project-specific processes and procedures to ensure compliance with budgetary, regulatory, and process controls.
  • Select and implement systems and tools appropriate for the work, ensuring effective project management and control.
  • Develop and grow the service capability, contributing to the delivery of client account plans.
  • Oversee an agreed scope of work, including the workload of a team or contractors, ensuring allocated work is completed and resources are fully utilised.
  • Work within established systems to independently produce schedules and cost plans, track and manage budgets, and highlight variances to produce management information.
  • Present project risks or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted, and ensure the delivery of project controls is compliant to standards.
  • Provide advice to colleagues on compliance processes and ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
  • Analyse and review data to identify key existing and emerging themes and trends, providing recommendations to support project decision-making.
  • Review and analyse project controls processes and policies, providing insightful recommendations to improve processes and systems.
  • Interact effectively and proactively across the organisation, seeking to develop ways to support collaboration and ensure project/programme controls can be delivered to meet internal customer expectations.
  • Advise senior management on issues relating to project controls, providing subject matter advice to support successful delivery in line with project objectives and strategies.
  • Liaise and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to ensure all parties are informed and aware of project progress and expectations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the Rail sector environment.
  • Relevant business experience across multiple sectors.
  • Management of small to medium-sized projects and experience in major projects and programmes.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to manage relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Expert-level expertise in service capability.
  • Knowledge of own community managed and an understanding of service and business lines.
  • Experience in managing business relationships at management level.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Relevant professional qualification or chartered status.
