With a strong commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, we are seeking an experienced Category Buyer to join our procurement team.
Job Role and Key ResponsibilitiesThe Category Buyer will be responsible for managing the procurement category of raw materials and services for our Consumables business unit. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a category management approach to drive improvements in cost, quality, and availability.
- Identifying and pursuing cost-saving strategies to maximize business unit margin.
- Executing competitive procurement exercises to achieve cost reductions.
- Negotiating advantageous terms and pricing for supply arrangements.
- Performance management of business-critical suppliers.
- Management of business stock holding policy.
- Providing procurement support and advice to internal stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in procurement or a related field, with a focus on category management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and influence stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of procurement software and systems, including MRP principles.
- A willingness to travel within the UK and internationally, as required.
