Role Summary

We are seeking a Communications Lead to become a vital part of our RAPID team, which stands for the Regulators' Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development. This initiative collaborates with various regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency and the Drinking Water Inspectorate, to enhance infrastructure development.

The RAPID initiative is currently engaged with a portfolio of significant infrastructure projects, with an estimated investment of approximately £17 billion. These projects are designed to address the water needs of around 6 million individuals. It is essential that we foster public trust and stakeholder confidence in the proposed solutions to ensure effective delivery of these projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing RAPID's communication strategy, collaborating closely with senior leadership and regulatory partners. Your focus will be on raising public awareness regarding the urgent need for innovative water solutions, particularly in light of challenges posed by climate change and population growth.

You will also oversee the planning and execution of high-profile events, working in tandem with the Ofwat engagement team. Your ability to produce high-quality written and verbal communications will be crucial, as will your skills in project management and resource allocation to ensure successful engagement activities. Utilizing measurement and evaluation techniques, you will continuously refine and enhance communication strategies to maximize impact.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with the following essential experience, skills, and knowledge:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic communication plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Expertise in various communication disciplines, particularly in media relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in executing digital communication campaigns and managing website content effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve communication objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly across diverse channels and media.
  • Experience in evaluating communication effectiveness and adapting strategies based on insights gained.
