The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and developing programs in Religious Studies and Health, Social Care and Childcare, as well as contributing to the management of the curriculum within the program area.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Curriculum Development: Teach AS / A Level Religious Studies and Health, Social Care and Childcare to day and/or evening classes; Teach on Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales classes within the ALA curriculum area; Deliver the college-wide PSHE Tutorial program as well as ALA-specific tutorials.
- Curriculum Management: Contribute to the management of the curriculum within your program area, including interviewing and guidance, induction, initial assessment, and meeting targets on retention, attendance, and successful completion.
- Outreach and Community Engagement: Develop and foster links with partner schools and contribute to the pastoral care of young people.
- Professional Development: Contribute to the development of commercial courses and projects, and participate in the college's award-winning professional learning and development program.
- Essential Criteria: Relevant degree or equivalent qualification; Teaching qualification (if not already held, a PGCE must be obtained within 2 years); GCSE Maths & English Grade C; Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels; Sound understanding of digital literacy; Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Desirable Criteria: Relevant teaching experience; Good understanding of relevant issues in post-16 education; Proven track record of high levels of learner attainment; Awareness of key performance indicators; Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities; Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people.
