Job Title: Development Management Team Leader

Location: Derby

Penguin Recruitment is proud to be supporting a Local Authority in Derbyshire on the hire of a Development Management Team Leader (Grade 11). This is a full-time and permanent position (37 hours per week) with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for 2-3 days of remote work per week.

This role includes a £2,000 welcome payment (terms and conditions apply) and a grant of up to £6,000 may be available via a relocation assistant scheme.

The main purpose of this position is to provide professional planning leadership and day-to-day operational management to staff within the Development Management Section, while maintaining an operational case load of predominantly major planning case work.

This position would be ideal for an experienced Principal Planning Officer looking for the next step in their career, or an existing Development Management Team Leader working with another Local Authority.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide professional planning leadership and day-to-day operational management to staff within the Development Management Section.
  2. Maintain an operational case load of predominantly major planning case work.
  3. Develop and implement effective planning strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  5. Ensure compliance with relevant planning regulations and policies.
Requirements:
  1. A relevant Town Planning qualification or a related discipline.
  2. MRTPI.
  3. Substantial Development Management experience.
  4. Staff management experience.
  5. Effective communicator.
  6. Driving Licence and ability to visit sites throughout the council's area.
