Job Title: Senior Radiotherapy Team Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Radiotherapy Team Lead to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of staff and services within Radiotherapy, ensuring strategic plans are in place for future growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of staff and services within Radiotherapy, ensuring strategic plans are in place for future growth and success.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of staff and patients, ensuring continuity in staff and patient-centred support and development.
  • Work closely with clinicians, radiographers, and medical physics staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in the technical lead rota to accommodate service demands, including extended day working, Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm.
  • Contribute to the development of staff clinically and professionally, including assessing and teaching radiographers and trainee radiographers.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working clinically at a senior radiographer grade with evidence of leading and organising a team of radiographers.
  • Significant postgraduate experience on a wide range of radiotherapy equipment, including recent and extensive experience at management level.
  • Experience in assessing and teaching radiographers and trainee radiographers.
  • Experience of developing staff clinically and professionally.
  • Specialist knowledge of cancer pathology and disease patterns.
  • Specialist knowledge of clinical radiotherapy, including potential radiation risks, acute patient side effects, and their effective management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IR(ME)R in relation to radiotherapy.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience of undertaking clinical audits and surveys.
  • Experience of change management.
  • Experience of workforce planning.
