Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Services Specialist III to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in social work principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall program management and coordination of the Clarke, Frederick, and Winchester (CFW) program, including Foster Parent recruitment and training.
  • Prepare and review grant proposals and monitor program grants to ensure compliance with prescribed policy, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Develop and implement programs to meet the needs of clients and the community.
  • Assess community needs and develop community resources to address those needs.
  • Coordinate agency and community resources and programs to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the activities of professional, clerical, and volunteer personnel.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees, clients, agencies, and the public to achieve program goals.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and other guidelines related to assigned program area.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior and motivational theory, laws, policies, and regulations relating to human services program areas, legal procedures as related to program area, and social, economic, and health problems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial principles and practices.
  • Demonstrative skill to write effective business correspondence, reports, and other documentation.
  • Ability to gain a thorough understanding of CSA, including Utilization Management, and effectively provide information and respond to questions from groups, clients, case managers, and the general public.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field and minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
  • Considerable experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
