As a pivotal figure in the digital transformation within the Department for Transport (DfT), you will be part of a skilled and diverse team dedicated to innovating and enhancing the delivery of advanced digital and data services.

Your role will involve supporting and shaping various sectors within the organization that drive a forward-thinking transport policy agenda.

In a cloud-centric environment, you will be tasked with developing cutting-edge cloud solutions that address intricate digital, identity, and data requirements.

As the IT Service Manager (Digital Workplace) within the Digital Services Team, you will oversee and support one or more IT services or products, significantly contributing to the seamless delivery of comprehensive digital services. This will involve ensuring adherence to ITIL standards, establishing service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs) with both external and internal teams, and collaborating with other IT service functions to maintain service quality.A primary focus of your role will be managing the transition of new products and services into operational status.

This position is centered around interpersonal interactions and is well-suited for individuals with strong communication skills.

You will work closely with the Senior Service Manager (Digital Workplace) and have the opportunity to cultivate positive working relationships across the Digital Service of the Department for Transport.

  • Overseeing the daily delivery and support (including technical assistance & incident management) for one or more products or services within your scope of responsibility.
  • Assisting the Senior Service Manager Digital Workplace in delivering comprehensive digital services through cross-team coordination, collaboration, and adaptability, thereby avoiding technical silos.
  • Acting as Transition Manager for one or more projects to ensure a smooth transition of new products and services into live operation, ensuring that transition documentation and final certification are complete and ready for launch.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external suppliers related to digital, data, and technology within your area of responsibility.
  • Contributing to the business continuity and disaster recovery plans concerning the products and services under your purview.
  • Continuously enhancing and developing the necessary skills and capabilities of personnel within your area.
