The Senior Quality Assurance Officer plays a vital role within the Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE) Office, supporting the Academic Registrar and collaborating with fellow Deputy Registrars to oversee academic quality and standards on a global scale.
You will engage closely with International Study Centres (ISCs) to provide expert guidance on quality assurance, ensuring compliance with Study Group's established standards. As a Senior Quality Assurance Officer, you will facilitate the effective functioning of Study Group's Academic Governance, acting as Secretary to the Academic Board and its various sub-committees. This role includes coordinating with board chairs, members, and senior colleagues, organizing meetings, and managing the flow of information.
We invite applications from candidates with 1-2 years of relevant experience who are eager to advance their careers in academic quality assurance roles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as Secretary for the Academic Board, Quality Learning and Teaching Committee, Student Experience Committee, Research and Scholarship Committee, Programme Approval and Variation Committee, Entry Requirements Advisory Board, and Student Advisory Board. Collaborate with committee chairs to prepare and distribute meeting agendas and documentation promptly. Accurately record key decisions made during meetings and ensure timely circulation to participants. Ensure all action items are reported back to the board/committees prior to meetings. Draft formal minutes and prepare follow-up communications as necessary. Monitor the terms of appointment for committee members effectively. Provide practical advice and guidance to senior management on governance best practices within a for-profit, international education context. Foster positive working relationships with a key group of ISCs and the broader network of Study Group centres. Identify effective strategies for ISCs to integrate quality assurance processes to meet organizational goals. Communicate identified risks and necessary improvements effectively, ensuring prompt implementation of mitigations. Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure seamless approval and monitoring processes for centres. Contribute to the successful execution of QAE Office projects in collaboration with relevant parties. Coordinate, attend, and generate reports for approval events as a key panel member making quality assurance decisions. Oversee and produce reports from monitoring submissions considered through correspondence and at monitoring events. Prepare reports, draft documents, and present findings at academic governance committees as required. Engage in the continuous enhancement of Study Group's approval and monitoring mechanisms to ensure their effectiveness. Act as the primary contact for academic governance inquiries from colleagues across the network. Participate in the design and implementation of specific components of the QAE Office's strategic plan. CANDIDATE PROFILE An undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience. Significant experience in quality assurance or regulatory compliance within an educational institution. Proven experience in managing, developing, and inspiring colleagues, fostering buy-in from high-performing teams in an educational environment. Evidence of driving cultural change and implementing new operational systems and procedures. Strong understanding of governance and decision-making processes, as well as committee management. Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities with a capacity for innovation. Ability to lead projects with a clear vision and direction. Proven capability to influence and challenge existing assumptions, making difficult decisions when necessary. Ability to establish credibility and build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Capacity to navigate ambiguity and operate effectively in fast-paced environments. Understanding of external regulations impacting the higher education sector in England and the UK (desirable). Knowledge of European higher education and pathway provision regulations (desirable). Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
