About City Metals Recycling Ltd

City Metals Recycling Ltd, a leading market player in the recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Asset Management Accountant to join their team during an exciting period of growth and development.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director to support the core accounting activities for the business, including:

  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Weekly cash flow, weekly forecasting, and other reports as required.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Cash flow preparations and managing suppliers.
  • Ensuring accurate processing of multi-currency trade supplier/customer invoices and processing of overhead invoices.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation of the monthly VAT return in Sage 50.
  • Chasing debtors on the AR ledger and checking credit limits are correctly in place.
  • Support with the annual statutory audit and dealing with external auditors for periodic financial reviews, controls testing, and other inquiries.
  • Liaising with the credit facility provider.
  • Using the foreign exchange platform to complete currency trades.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly payroll.
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Processing employee expense claims and company credit cards.
  • Assisting the Finance Director with the implementation of company financial-related projects.
  • Managing petty cash and staff expenses.
  • Other ad-hoc accounting duties as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a qualified or studying accountant with strong core accounting skills and a methodical and diligent approach to work. This is an excellent opportunity for development, with a strong mentor and the ability to add value to the business as it grows.

What We Offer

The role involves working 5 days at the Rainham office with some flexibility around day-to-day needs. The salary is £35-40K (study + benefits for the right candidate), with a company pension and on-site parking.
