Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Assisting the classroom teacher in a supportive capacity
  • Overseeing and facilitating positive, safe, and enjoyable break periods for students, while coordinating first aid and health support in partnership with the administrative team.
  • Advocating for mental health and well-being for both students and staff
  • Providing cover for teachers as needed
  • Managing the organization of first aid and medical supplies within the institution
  • Fostering students' social and emotional growth while promoting independence in a secure and challenging environment
  • Encouraging collaborative interaction among students
  • Monitoring, documenting, and supporting the social and emotional progress of students
  • Creating accessible visual resources throughout the school to enhance well-being
  • Identifying needs, sourcing, and procuring equipment for the playground
  • Listening to and discussing sensitive issues with parents and guardians under the guidance of the teacher/SENCO/Vice Principal, and occasionally participating in discussions with parents
Desired Qualifications

We invite candidates to apply if they possess:

  • A first aid certification (or a willingness to pursue one)
  • A nationally recognized Level 3 qualification in mental health (or a willingness to pursue one)
  • An understanding of whole school listening systems, such as Circle Time
  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent
  • A foundational knowledge of SEND and learning obstacles
  • Some familiarity with strategies for engaging young individuals with challenging behaviors
  • Awareness of social challenges faced by students from underprivileged backgrounds
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in educational settings.
  • Experience working directly with young individuals in educational or training contexts, supporting their learning
