About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Leader to join our team at Disability Challengers in Guildford. As a Deputy Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the Leader in the development of creative and stimulating activities and programmes for disabled children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Leader in the development of activities and programmes that promote the welfare and well-being of disabled children and young people.
  • Liaise with children, parents, teachers, schools, and other organizations to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work harmoniously as a team member and have the ability to motivate and manage a team of people in the absence of the Leader.
  • Supervise and train workers, volunteers, and students on placement.
  • Encourage and facilitate effective working relationships between staff members.
  • Plan and execute holiday programmes, including projects, outings, entertainments, workshops, and residential trips.
  • Supervise voluntary helpers and welcome visitors.
  • Maintain the security of the building and site, ensuring the complete safety and welfare of the children.
  • Participate in the running and development of Challengers as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Leadership experience in a similar setting.
  • Experience working with disabled children and young people.
  • A willingness to get stuck in and make a positive impact on the lives of disabled children through the power of play.
  • Level 3 Qualification in Play, Youth Work, or Early Years or relevant qualification.
