Quantity Surveyor - High End Fit-Out Specialist

Build People is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the South Birmingham area. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering high-end interior fit-out projects throughout the UK.

About the Role

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the construction industry, specifically in the high-end interior fit-out sector. You will be responsible for reviewing and assessing tender and project enquiries, ensuring cost-effective tender submissions are prepared. You will also contribute to departmental meetings, ensure all internal and external meetings are well prepared and attended, and provide commercial awareness on live projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess tender and project enquiries
  • Prepare cost-effective tender submissions
  • Contribute to departmental meetings
  • Ensure all internal and external meetings are well prepared and attended
  • Provide commercial awareness on live projects
  • Prepare monthly valuations
  • Prepare subcontractor payment certificates
  • Manage and maximise variations during the contract
  • Submit and agree final account statements
  • Accurately update and present the monthly project cost reports
  • Assist in training junior staff
  • Manage and prepare loss and expense claims
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including both new build and fit-out/refurbishment
  • Understanding and willingness to get involved with estimating as well as traditional QS duties
  • Experience in the majority of the above roles and responsibilities
  • Degree qualified or NVQ, BTEC, or Higher National equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years full-time experience in a surveying role with a leading reputable main/principal contractor
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Word and Excel packages
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
