The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading and maintaining a range of projects, providing specialist knowledge to other projects/teams, and ensuring timely delivery of accurate project information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and maintain projects, providing specialist knowledge to other projects/teams
  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate project information
  • Develop and implement industry benchmarks and internal standards
  • Coordinate internal efforts of junior staff, providing frameworks and tools
  • Agree on appropriate standards and coordinate delivery
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge in Mechanical engineering
  • Commit to CPD in all areas
  • Develop high-quality, high-performance, and sustainable buildings via technical standards, costs, and programme
  • Deliver technical solutions in accordance with client brief
  • Organise junior staff and CAD staff to achieve engineered solutions within agreed time scales
  • Maintain project overview, explaining the status of the relevant section of a project at any time
  • Be aware of company agreements and contractual relationships on the project
  • Report feedback or issues concerning the project
  • Liaise with client, architect, and other members of the design team with clarity and confidence
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and other members of the design team
  • Appreciate and assist in generating business
  • Support and nurture junior/graduate engineers

Requirements

We are looking for someone with experience working in a fast-paced office environment, able to manage multiple deadlines and work as part of a team. You should be proactive, self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working with colleagues on all levels.

Relevant professional qualifications, a proven track record of successfully coordinating and delivering projects, experience in understanding and dealing with contractual procedures, solid experience in mechanical design, and proven track records of engaging and negotiating with senior management and peers on projects are essential.

Practical knowledge of managing small project teams, coupled with the understanding to select frameworks/tools that are appropriate to particular circumstances, ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to prioritise and think strategically about the timing and way of delivering project information, strong writing skills for producing written reports, and effective IT skills for producing material are also required.
