Team Dynamics

The HMRC Security team operates under the Chief Digital Information Office (CDIO), playing a crucial role in assessing business and reputational risks within one of Europe's largest IT estates. The Cyber Security Technical Services (CSTS) and the Government Security Centre for Cyber (Cyber GSeC) are vital components of our security framework.

Our mission is to be recognized as a center of expertise, collaborating across government to deliver comprehensive, customer-focused cyber security services that adapt to emerging technologies and the evolving threat landscape.

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Cyber Security Professional, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team within CSTS, contributing to our vibrant cyber security community. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with senior business and technical partners to provide risk-based technical security advice.
  • Leading efforts to secure HMRC's services and ensuring the delivery of top-notch technical security guidance.
  • Acting as a security champion, promoting 'Secure by Design' principles across HMRC.
  • Potentially taking on line management responsibilities and mentoring team members.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit leadership in the development of technical security expertise within the team.
  • Manage relationships with key partners across the government security network.
  • Demonstrate a history of delivering significant outcomes in complex environments.
  • Possess strong communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should have substantial experience in the following areas:

  • Technical cyber security at a senior level, with a proven track record in high-profile programs.
  • Managing relationships with senior stakeholders and effective team engagement.
  • Deep knowledge of security and privacy risks, alongside key technical considerations.
