Team Overview

The HMRC Security team operates within the Chief Digital Information Office (CDIO) and plays a crucial role in assessing business and reputational risks across a vast IT estate.

Our Cyber Security Technical Services (CSTS) and the Government Security Centre for Cyber (Cyber GSeC) are integral to our mission, ensuring that all personnel are equipped to fulfill their security responsibilities and develop the skills necessary to detect, prevent, and respond to security threats.

We aspire to be recognized as a center of expertise, collaborating across government to deliver comprehensive, customer-focused cyber security services that adapt to emerging technologies and the evolving threat landscape.

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Cyber Security Professional, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team within CSTS, contributing to a vibrant cyber security community across HMRC and the wider government.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with senior business and technical partners to provide risk-based technical security advice.
  • Leading efforts to secure HMRC’s services, ensuring the delivery of optimal technical security guidance.
  • Acting as a security champion, promoting the principles of Secure by Design throughout the organization.
  • Possibly undertaking line management responsibilities and supporting the development of team capabilities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven leadership in delivering technical security solutions and developing team expertise.
  • Strong relationship management skills with key partners across the government security network.
  • A track record of achieving high-value outcomes in complex environments.
  • Confidence in engaging with the UK security community and representing HMRC at various events.
