We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Clinical Psychologist to join our research team in evaluating the effectiveness of a new digitally delivered therapy for individuals with psychosis.

The Slomo2 study aims to investigate whether this innovative treatment can reduce distress and improve quality of life for individuals experiencing suspicious and mistrustful thinking. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our research team to deliver this large-scale study, ensuring the successful recruitment and assessment of participants.

Main Responsibilities
  • Screen and recruit participants for the Slomo controlled trial, working closely with clinical teams and referrers to meet monthly recruitment targets.
  • Conduct assessments and interviews with participants in clinic settings or at home, requiring extensive travel across the region.
  • Maintain accurate records and update medical records with trial progress, ensuring timely completion of the recruitment database.
  • Produce regular reports on recruitment and assessment outcomes, as well as data entry and checking in study databases.
  • Attend supervision sessions and research team meetings, including training at the lead site in London.
Requirements
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in highly emotive circumstances.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey sensitive information to clients, carers, and colleagues.
  • Understanding of the needs and difficulties of individuals with mental health problems and other disabilities.
  • Ability to apply psychological knowledge to a mental health context, with a high standard of report writing.
  • Computer literacy, including database management and data analysis using SPSS for Windows.
Education and Qualifications
  • Upper 2nd class honours degree in psychology or a related field.
  • Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Postgraduate training in relevant areas of psychology, mental health practice, and/or research design and analysis.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Paid or unpaid work with individuals with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
  • Experience as an assistant or research psychologist, with knowledge of evidence-based practice.
  • Experience of working in direct care provision, with a client group relevant to this post.
  • Experience of psychometric test administration and interpretation, as well as providing individual or group interventions.
Research Experience
  • Relevant research experience at undergraduate or masters level, with experience of recruitment for trials or working in a clinical setting.
