Academic Fellows for Postgraduate Programs

To facilitate the delivery of Postgraduate Taught Programmes (PGT) within the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences (MVLS) and assist in the enhancement of existing offerings while coordinating and executing academic content.
To educate and actively enhance the knowledge, comprehension, and skills of postgraduate learners in the College of MVLS.
Collaborate within a team to ensure effective academic delivery in this domain and contribute as necessary to the overall academic administrative responsibilities of PGT programmes.
Engage with academic colleagues across MVLS and the University to cultivate a dynamic and appealing PGT portfolio that provides exceptional training and student experiences at the postgraduate level.
Key Responsibilities 1.Collaborate with clusters of programmes to assist in the redesign of programme frameworks and implement the development and coordination of new academic content.
2.Contribute to course design, development, and delivery, including tutoring support, within the programmes. Collaborate with teams of academics and coordinate with the PGT administrative team as needed.
3.Encourage the development of innovative and creative teaching and learning strategies, in alignment with the University's Quality Enhancement Strategy, ensuring that the educational opportunities provided to students meet the University’s high standards.
4.Engage in scholarly activities to support teaching and student support initiatives, applying current research to all teaching efforts. Ensure necessary contributions of expert material into courses from collaborating academics and external sources as required.
5.Maintain and enhance knowledge in the subject area through collaboration with the schools within the college.
6.Stay informed about advancements in technology, their applications, and continuously update both knowledge and skills to support teaching excellence relevant to the subject area.
7.Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their learning, ensuring that appropriate structures are established within the programme for a consistent approach from all contributors.
8.Assist colleagues in the development of teaching and contribute to the ongoing enhancement and design of the current PGT programmes managed by the College of MVLS.
9.Collaborate with colleagues in other areas of the University to ensure consistent teaching, assessment, and feedback across our PGT programmes.
10.Participate in recruitment and conversion, induction, and orientation activities as appropriate.
11.Perform other PGT related duties as requested by the Dean of Postgraduate Teaching or delegate.
For Appointment at Grade 7: 12.
Perform additional PGT related duties, including management and leadership activities, as requested by the Dean of Postgraduate Teaching or delegate.
13.Engage in the performance and development review processes, as appropriate, in accordance with university strategy.
14.Contribute to the implementation of the College Education Strategy.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential: A1. A first degree in a relevant subject area to MVLS. A2. Specialized knowledge in a relevant subject area to facilitate the ability to coordinate and develop teaching. A3. A Master's degree in a relevant subject area to MVLS.
For appointment at Grade 7: A4. A PhD in a relevant subject area to MVLS.
Desirable: B1. Familiarity with university academic policies and procedures. B2. Understanding of e-learning, teaching methodologies, learning design, and pedagogy.
Skills Essential: C1. Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication (written and oral) skills with the ability to address issues with tact, diplomacy, and discretion. C2. Passionate approach to teaching and learning, including communication with students and academic staff. C3. Ability to use initiative and exercise independent judgment. C4. Proven time, project, and people management skills. C5. Ability to work proactively, manage multiple tasks, and demonstrate a high degree of responsibility. C6. Ability to accept collaborative responsibilities and act accordingly. C7. Capability to teach flexibly across disciplinary boundaries.
Experience Essential: E1. Experience in delivering postgraduate teaching in disciplines related to MVLS PGT programmes.
For Appointment at Grade 7: E2. Experience in delivering postgraduate teaching and assessment in disciplines related to MVLS PGT programmes. Desirable F1. Experience in coordinating a teaching programme. F2. Experience in developing teaching content. F3. Record of accomplishment in published research and/or teaching delivery in a subject-related area. F4. Experience in working within virtual learning environments. F5. Experience in teaching at an international institution or with international students. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 6/7, £32,332 - £36,024/£39,347 - £44,263 per annum. This position is full-time and fixed-term for up to 3 years.
