Position Title: Senior Legal Counsel in Construction at Barratt Developments PLC

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced legal professional to join our dynamic Regulatory, Construction, and Disputes Team. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive legal support and guidance to our business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a variety of legal tasks, including the examination, drafting, negotiation, and counsel on property and construction agreements.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts for architects and consultants.
  • Advise on legal issues pertinent to the residential construction industry.
  • Provide insights on construction litigation and manage relationships with external legal representatives.
  • Mentor and supervise junior legal staff.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Group Legal Team.
  • Collaborate on intricate projects with senior legal professionals and the Group Head of Legal.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and confident with a proactive approach.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risks effectively.
  • Experience in private practice is essential.
  • Ability to thrive both in team settings and independently.
  • Proven track record of performing under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and drafting capabilities.
  • Proficient in IT and eager to develop internal training initiatives.
