About the Role

Are you a strategic professional passionate about optimizing sales and profit margins?

Poundland is on the lookout for an energetic Merchandise Planner to contribute to our operations.

In this position, you will play a key role in strategizing, overseeing, and managing the procurement, intake, and distribution of merchandise throughout our retail locations. You will collaborate closely with our Buying team to ensure product availability aligns with sales goals and enhances customer satisfaction across various seasons and regions.

This position allows for hybrid work – three days in the office each week.

Your Responsibilities

As a Merchandise Planner at Poundland, your role will be crucial in ensuring optimal product placement and availability. Your primary duties will include:

  • Meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): You will ensure that sales, profit, and inventory targets are achieved within your designated departments, aligning merchandise strategies with business objectives.
  • Managing Open to Buy (OTB): Oversee OTB management to balance stock levels with sales demand, ensuring optimal inventory management.
  • Updating WSSI Forecasts: Regularly refresh and reforecast the Weekly Stock and Sales Inventory (WSSI) tool to reflect accurate trading positions and support strategic decisions.
  • Range Planning and Stock Availability: Develop and oversee range plans to ensure stock levels meet store and customer needs, collaborating with Supply Chain to manage product flow.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting: Conduct thorough analysis of historical and current season performance, providing actionable insights to enhance sales and stock efficiency.
  • Strategic Contributions: Participate in the formulation of strategic plans, ensuring merchandise strategies align with broader business goals.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

  • Commercial Insight: Strong planning skills focused on maximizing sales and profit margins.
  • Analytical Decision-Making: Proven ability to make informed decisions based on data analysis and business requirements.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Motivation and Dedication: A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a commitment to achieving objectives.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and a solid understanding of WSSI and OTB, with the ability to analyze large datasets and utilize range planning tools.
  • Relevant Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in merchandising, including allocation and replenishment.
