Role Overview:
The Senior Merchandiser plays a crucial role in driving profitability and optimizing cash sales through effective stock management and strategic planning. This position involves collaborating closely with the Head of Merchandising to ensure that product ranges are aligned with company objectives and market demands.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Analyzing past performance data to shape future product strategies in partnership with the Product team.
  • Presenting insights and recommendations during key commercial meetings with senior leadership.
  • Conducting regular performance assessments across various business channels.
  • Monitoring competitor activities to inform product strategy adjustments.
  • Forecasting internet and retail needs to align product offerings with commercial objectives.
  • Setting stock targets and managing buffer stocks for retail and e-commerce.
  • Formulating pricing strategies that align with overall margin goals.
  • Utilizing WSSI to effectively manage and trade the department in accordance with KPI targets.

Trading Management:

  • Effectively reconciling management reports, including stock and sales forecasts.
  • Establishing a clear ordering timeline that reflects catalog schedules and seasonal trends.
  • Maximizing sales during peak trading periods while safeguarding critical trading times.
  • Planning promotional initiatives to enhance sales performance.
  • Gaining insights into the Concessions and Wholesale segments of the business.

Commercial Insight:

  • Conducting regular visits to stores and competitors to remain informed and proactive.
  • Adhering to critical deadlines and dates to ensure timely execution.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service standards.

Merchandising Systems Expertise:

  • Building a comprehensive understanding of all merchandising systems.
  • Identifying opportunities for system enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring the department operates smoothly through meticulous integrity checks.
  • Maximizing the use of the Allocation System to drive retail sales and profitability.

Team Management and Development:

  • Taking ownership of personal development while fostering positive team dynamics.
  • Continuously evaluating processes for potential improvements.
  • Supporting the training and development of the merchandising team.
  • Overseeing daily team operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Proficient in Excel with strong numerical skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
  • Commercially savvy with a keen interest in the fashion retail sector.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a small team.
  • Experience in a head office merchandising environment.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and skilled in people management.
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and confident in approach.

Desirable:

  • Experience in multi-channel retailing.
  • Prior experience in the relevant product category.
  • Enjoys working within a small to medium-sized company environment.
