Position Overview

This role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Clinical Pharmacist to enhance the Clinical Pharmacy service within a dynamic healthcare environment. The position involves collaboration with dedicated specialty teams, providing a platform to apply your prescribing skills effectively.

While prior experience in critical care is advantageous, comprehensive training will be available in this specialty, with support from fellow Advanced Pharmacists.

It is essential to hold Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualifications, and the department will fully support enrollment in relevant courses if necessary.

In this role, you will supervise a team of rotational pharmacists and clinical technicians, ensuring optimal support for both Critical Care and Surgical departments. You will work closely with the Lead Surgical Services Pharmacist and other surgical leaders, as well as the critical care team.

We welcome applications from candidates who are prepared to work at a band 7 to 8a progression level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function as an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist in Surgical services across the Trust.
  • Act as the specialty pharmacist for Critical Care, General Surgery, and Hospital at Home, promoting the safe and effective use of medications within these areas to enhance medication safety.
  • Oversee the daily operations and performance of the surgical team within these specialties.
  • Effectively manage and mentor pharmacists within the surgical team, ensuring proper supervision of pharmacy staff on surgical wards.
  • Serve as a deputy for the Lead Pharmacist for Surgery at the Pharmacy and Care Group level when necessary.

Job Requirements

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in surgical specialties.
  • Experience in educating a variety of healthcare professionals.

  • Experience in staff management and service delivery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Possession of a diploma or equivalent clinical knowledge.

Desirable

  • NMP qualification or enrollment in a relevant course.
  • Experience as an Educational Supervisor or equivalent.

Skills
