Livewell Southwest CIC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Dental Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our Oral Health Improvement team, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing oral health improvement activities across Plymouth, South Hams, and West Devon.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and evaluate defined Oral Health Improvement activities in line with national oral health strategies.
- Work closely with clinicians to ensure effective and efficient delivery of oral health programmes.
- Undertake oral health appointments with patients, including adults, children, and those with special needs or medical conditions.
- Apply fluoride varnish under the prescription of a clinician.
- Collaborate with the wider Livewell services and external organizations to support vulnerable groups in the local community.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Understanding of the factors affecting oral health and the scope of oral health improvement programmes.
- Ability to work on own initiative and organize own workload with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of dental equipment and materials.
- Competent in recognizing and dealing with medical emergencies.
- Access to CPD online training.
- A bespoke induction programme.
- Existing members of the NHS Pension Scheme can continue their membership.
- Access to specialist dentists in Paediatrics, Oral surgery, and Special Care.
- Access to specialist dental equipment.
- Digital X-ray system including OPT.
- Support from other oral health and Fluoride Varnish qualified Dental Nurses and Dental Therapists.
