Position Overview
SENIOR CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST
We invite applications for the role of Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Gynaecology and Maternity Departments at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a permanent position aimed at dedicated professionals who are passionate about enhancing patient care in both secondary and tertiary healthcare environments.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a dynamic team of NHS Gynaecologists, Gynae-oncologists, and Clinical Academics from the University of Oxford. Together, they will provide comprehensive gynaecological services to the local community while also delivering specialized care in areas such as Gynae-oncology, urogynaecology, reproductive medicine, and endometriosis.
Additionally, the role encompasses responsibilities within the maternity service, which caters to a significant number of women annually. The department also offers advanced referral services in fetal and maternal medicine, supported by a state-of-the-art neonatal unit.
The postholder will engage in general gynaecology sessions, participate in on-call duties, and work closely with the maternity team, including C-section procedures and antenatal clinics.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust operates gynaecology services across multiple sites. The selected candidate may be required to provide care at various locations. Responsibilities include conducting general gynaecology clinics and outpatient hysteroscopy procedures. The candidate will also stay informed about emergency gynaecology practices, contribute to urgent care services, and provide guidance to the Early Pregnancy team during on-call shifts.
The role includes managing theatre lists, primarily focusing on minimal access surgeries, and overseeing day case procedures at designated hospitals. The postholder will also be responsible for inpatient care and gynaecology on-call duties, ensuring compliance with service standards.
The candidate is expected to participate in a weekly all-day C-section list with the maternity team and conduct antenatal clinics as required.
