Community Rehabilitation Supervisor
£23,637 - £29,046
Nationwide
Transform Lives Through Community Service
Are you seeking a fulfilling career where you can inspire and guide individuals towards positive transformations in their lives while enhancing community safety and well-being?
A position in community rehabilitation empowers you to influence the lives of individuals on probation and contribute to the betterment of your community.
Community Payback (CP) serves as more than just an alternative to incarceration; it is a pathway to improved outcomes for those on probation and the communities they inhabit. As a Community Rehabilitation Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role, overseeing teams engaged in various community service initiatives. Your leadership will help individuals maximize their time in Community Payback, whether by acquiring new skills for employment or exploring strategies to minimize the risk of reoffending.
Key Responsibilities
You will oversee and motivate teams of individuals on probation as they engage in community service activities. These tasks may include enhancing public spaces and restoring community amenities such as recreational facilities.
Your role will involve operating a vehicle to transport participants and equipment, as well as preparing individuals for each assignment. You will exemplify best practices and ensure that all tasks are executed to a high standard. Collaboration with partner organizations will be essential, and you must remain cognizant of the public nature of your work. Additionally, you will be responsible for health and safety compliance and maintaining accurate records.
Candidate Profile
While personal qualities are paramount, specific qualifications or prior experience are less critical. You should be prepared to serve as a positive role model, capable of establishing rapport with a diverse array of individuals, and confident in supervising small groups while maintaining order. A passion for sharing skills and knowledge in areas such as construction, painting, or horticulture is desirable.
Working with a varied group of individuals necessitates empathy, strong communication skills, and a willingness to take the lead. Your commitment to supporting individuals on their journey and improving community conditions is vital. Whether it involves constructing benches or cleaning public areas, your motivation stems from a genuine desire to assist others.
This dynamic and meaningful role presents daily challenges, so you should thrive in problem-solving scenarios. As Community Payback operates seven days a week, weekend availability is required. A valid driving license is essential.
Training and Benefits
We are committed to your professional development through comprehensive training. Prior to commencing your role, you will receive instruction on first aid, health and safety protocols, risk management, and strategies for managing challenging behaviors. You will also gain a diverse set of transferable skills, including coaching and mentoring.
If you aspire to advance your career, opportunities exist for progression into Community Payback management and senior leadership positions. The hands-on experience you will acquire while working with individuals on probation provides an excellent foundation for those interested in pursuing roles as probation services officers or training to become qualified probation officers. Furthermore, you will have access to a variety of other positions within the Probation Service, including roles in court systems or victim support.
Your dedication will be rewarded with stable employment and a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, an attractive pension scheme (Local Government Pension Scheme), paid sick leave, and 25 days of paid vacation plus public holidays.
A career in community rehabilitation allows you to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals on probation and contribute positively to your community.
