Job Summary

Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is seeking a temporary Healthcare Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will support the nursing team in providing high-quality patient care and will have the opportunity to build on their experience and skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
  • Carry out high-quality practice within designated clinical areas, including venepuncture, phlebotomy checks, new patient health checks, and preparing and maintaining environments and equipment.
  • Provide valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families, and carers.

Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is a large training practice based in the town of Newport Pagnell, with two further sites in the area. We have 30,000+ patients and own PCN, The Bridge. We like to support learning and development and can offer NHS pension as part of our employment package.

Person Specification
  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture is desirable.
Requirements
  • Experience of working within a GP practice.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
