Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity has arisen within our dynamic Obstetric Theatre Department. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for obstetrics to become a part of our esteemed team.

This role offers the chance to enhance your expertise in obstetrics while providing high-quality care to patients in both elective and emergency settings.

Our department operates a 24/7 emergency service alongside scheduled surgeries during weekdays.

As a vital member of the maternity theatre team, you will undertake the responsibilities of either theatre scrub or recovery practitioner, assisting the surgeon and collaborating with other professionals.

Comprehensive training and support will be provided for any unfamiliar areas.
You will uphold exceptional standards of pre, peri, and postoperative care.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safe operation of theatre equipment and confirming that all tools in your work area are prepared for use.

Additionally, you will be accountable for your ongoing professional development.
This position requires an active UK Registered practitioner, either as a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, with relevant experience in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with clinical team leaders to deliver high-quality, individualized care to patients and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records of care provided.
  • Engage with various disciplines and professions to ensure the welfare of patients.
  • Continuously update and enhance personal and professional knowledge.
  • Deliver care in accordance with UHD NHS Foundation Trust Policies.
  • Adhere to the professional code of conduct.
  • Manage patients' valuables and property in line with hospital policy.
  • Promote effective communication within the Department.

University Hospitals Dorset is committed to enhancing services across the Trust, with many initiatives being transformed and developed following recent mergers and the New Hospital Programme.

This may result in some services relocating either temporarily or permanently in the near future.

Recruiting Managers will be available to address any specific inquiries you may have during the interview process.

There are plans for this service to transition to a new site, which will affect the role and work location.

Upon relocation, reimbursement for excess mileage will not be applicable, and travel between the employee's residence and work location will be considered a commute.

Any changes unrelated to this will be managed according to Trust/National terms and conditions.

Qualifications:
Essential: Registered practitioner as either RN or Operating Department Practitioner with relevant qualifications.
Desirable: Evidence of ability to educate in practice, completion of Mentor/Clinical Assessor course, Degree/Masters in a relevant field.

Experience:
Essential: Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners to foster successful partnerships.
Desirable: Minimum of 1 year in a related specialty, experience in delegating workload, and supervising staff.

Technical Skills:
Essential: Strong organizational skills, ability to maintain focus, excellent interpersonal skills, and flexibility to work shifts as needed.
Desirable: A commitment to accountability and a clear understanding of delegated authority and responsibilities.

Knowledge:
Essential: Relevant theatre and/or recovery experience.
Desirable: Experience in anaesthetic practice.

Personal Attributes:
Essential: Self-motivated, reliable, and adaptable to change, with a willingness to teach.
Desirable: Flexibility in attitudes and behaviors to support teamwork and achievement of objectives; appraisal skills or a willingness to learn.

Language Requirement:
Essential: Proficiency in English as necessary to perform the role.
