Internal IT Support Specialist

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire with hybrid flexibility

Salary: £36,000 - £42,000 (Dependent on experience)

Type: Permanent

We are collaborating with a prominent provider of asset financing solutions catering to diverse industry sectors. The organization is currently seeking a skilled Internal IT Support Specialist to enhance their team in Blackburn.

The established IT Service function is committed to elevating service levels, support, knowledge, and consistency throughout the organization.

In this dynamic role, reporting to the IT Service & Operations Manager, you will assist the business in delivering and managing applications, high-quality network and communication services, and robust infrastructure to facilitate daily operations and support ongoing growth.

You should be adept at managing IT service requests in a structured and well-documented manner, both in-person and remotely, ensuring the highest levels of discreet service while balancing critical priorities and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Support (70%)

  • Ownership of first and second line support, ensuring timely monitoring, assignment, updating, and resolution of incidents and service requests logged in the Service Desk ticketing system.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to service requests, maintaining awareness of SLAs and KPIs.
  • Provide desktop support for staff utilizing industry-standard PC hardware and software.
  • Offer support and coverage during incidents, holidays, or absences of team members, with occasional out-of-hours work as project demands dictate.
  • Prepare and provision new and replacement IT hardware and infrastructure for the organization.

Maintenance (20%)

  • Conduct preventative administration and maintenance of the server stack and infrastructure.

General Duties (10%)

  • Assist colleagues, the broader IT team, and the organization on various projects.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of presenting technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive in taking ownership of user issues.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems (11 and Server).
  • Experience in a virtual server environment (VMWare).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Knowledge of cyber security best practices.
  • Experience with administrative tools including Active Directory, Entra, InTune, Defender, and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of PC hardware and printers.
  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework is advantageous.
