About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead our retail fit-out projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they meet client objectives, deadlines, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of 2-3 retail fit-out projects at a time.
- Manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial concept through to handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Site Coordination:
- Ensure that work is carried out with minimal disruption in live environments, keeping the retail spaces operational during the fit-out process.
- Supervise on-site teams, including subcontractors, to ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
- Liaise with clients to understand their needs and ensure these are reflected in the project delivery.
- Manage relationships with all project stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental:
- Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behavior.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations, including conducting site safety briefings and audits.
- Address any health and safety issues promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor project budgets and control costs to ensure profitability.
- Approve invoices, manage procurement, and ensure timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Report on financial performance and forecast outcomes for each project.
Requirements:
- Successful experience in a project management role, specifically within the retail fit-out sector.
- Strong background in managing fit-out projects in live environments, where retail operations must continue during the project.
- Experience working on Sainsbury's projects or similar retail clients is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing project budgets and costs.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with large retail clients
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Prince2, PMP, or equivalent)
Remuneration:
Permanent position with a salary range of £65,000 - £70,000 per annum, with potential for higher compensation for exceptional candidates.
