Job Title: Lead Practitioner - Geography

Job Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Practitioner - Geography to join our team at Strood Academy. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving excellence in teaching and learning, curriculum planning, and professional development. Your expertise in Geography will be instrumental in shaping our curriculum and ensuring that our students receive a world-class education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective curriculum plans for Geography, ensuring that they are aligned with national standards and meet the needs of all students.
  • Lead and manage a team of Geography teachers, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to ensure that they are equipped to deliver high-quality lessons.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the academy to develop and implement school-wide initiatives that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community to promote the academy and its values.
  • Contribute to the development of the academy's curriculum and policies, ensuring that they are aligned with national standards and best practice.
  • Participate in staff training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience of teaching Geography at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
