Overview of the Role and Team
We are in search of a driven and seasoned Senior Manager of Internal Audit to enhance our proactive, innovative, and collaborative Internal Audit team. This team consists of 14 professionals located in various regions. Our mission is to provide insightful assurance and guidance that empowers Pearson to fulfill its strategic goals. The Senior Manager of Internal Audit will report directly to the VP of Internal Audit & Controls Compliance, offering a pathway for advancement into a Director position. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the execution of numerous financial and operational audits within our portfolio. You will assume full responsibility for the audits in your designated area, ensuring that key audit outputs are meticulously reviewed and prepared for final evaluation by a Director or VP of Internal Audit. Your exceptional communication skills and adaptability will be essential in fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Internal Audit Leadership team to formulate the annual audit strategy, ensuring comprehensive coverage of Pearson's principal risks. Take full ownership of the audits assigned to your portfolio, serving as the audit lead or review lead based on the complexity and scale of the audits. Engage with stakeholders to create and negotiate practical and commercially viable recommendations. Cultivate, maintain, and leverage relationships with key stakeholders. Work synergistically with other members of the Internal Audit Leadership team to optimize departmental resources in alignment with Internal Audit priorities. Inspire, motivate, and develop Internal Audit team members in accordance with the department's vision and talent management strategy. Lead the delivery of one or two strategic priority initiatives. Establish and uphold a robust internal audit methodology that complies with professional standards. Stay informed about emerging risks and trends in internal audit, ensuring the function remains relevant and effective in anticipating new challenges. Collaborate with other departments to foster a culture of risk awareness and control.Work Environment:
This position operates on a hybrid working model, requiring regular engagement with our London office.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
At least 7 years of experience in audit and/or assurance across diverse organizations or sectors. This role is ideal for experienced managers with a strong financial operations background transitioning from practice to industry. Familiarity with major control frameworks (COSO, ISO), UK and US corporate governance, as well as internal audit standards and methodologies. Strong leadership, team-building, and developmental capabilities, with a focus on setting clear objectives and driving results. Proven ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent influencing abilities and sound business judgment. ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) certification is required.Benefits and Rewards:
