Conservation and Heritage Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Conservation and Heritage Officer to join our team in North Wales. As a key member of our conservation team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering our North Wales Moors Priority Landscape Plan, ensuring the conservation of species and habitats of international importance across this upland landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver conservation plans and projects to protect and restore upland habitats and species, including curlew and black grouse.
- Manage and coordinate conservation projects, including species recovery work, key species monitoring, peatland restoration, and land management advice.
- Work with RSPB colleagues and external partners to deliver conservation projects and engage in upland land use policy.
- Contribute to the development of new work plans and project ideas, and support fundraising efforts to secure funding for conservation projects.
- Advocate for conservation policies and messages with key stakeholders, including landowners, local politicians, and volunteers.
Requirements
- Proven experience in conservation and heritage management, with a strong understanding of upland species and habitat conservation.
- Excellent project management and coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders, including landowners, local politicians, and volunteers.
- Competent user of core MS Office programmes and GIS.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including pension, life assurance, and annual leave. This is a permanent role, working 37 hours per week, with a combination of home-working and site/location-based work. Some office facilities will be available at our new office working location in Gaerwen, Anglesey.
