Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with integrated multi-disciplinary teams to execute high-profile projects, managing timelines and resources effectively.
- Take charge of technical challenges, formulating strategies and implementing solutions through engagement with stakeholders.
- Produce and review design deliverables, including assumption notes, technical specifications, and calculation notes.
- Direct resources to conduct necessary analysis tasks.
- Develop and review safety case inputs, such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs), and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR).
- Review and justify design decisions to regulatory bodies.
- Assume ownership of CDM responsibilities.
- Assist in the preparation of fee proposals.
Qualifications:
- MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
- Proven ability to work within and lead a design team, as well as collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in the design and/or construction of civil engineering solutions utilizing Eurocodes (and ideally American codes).
- Demonstrable experience in designing heavy infrastructure projects within the nuclear or regulated industry.
- Experience with finite element modeling software and associated post-processing tools, including validation and verification of modeling outputs.
- Understanding of design tools within a BIM environment.
- Knowledge of the UK Nuclear Regulatory process in civil engineering is highly desirable.
