Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Operations Leader to join our team as the Director of Technical Operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this individual will be responsible for implementing and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of our infrastructure, covering dev-ops, IT, networking, and tier 1 support for both B2C and B2B services.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Thought Leadership: As a key member of the Engineering organization, you will play a pivotal role in championing best practices across the infrastructure, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest level of technical excellence.
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will foster strong working relationships across various teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, open communication, and mutual respect.
  3. Process Improvement: Develop, implement, and enforce tools and methods to ensure seamless support for new and existing products/services, with a focus on continuous improvement and feedback to the business.
  4. Reporting and Analysis: Regularly provide insightful reports across the business on the health of technical operations, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
  5. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the technical operations team, promoting a proactive mentality, initiative, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Staff Development: Develop and mentor technical operations staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  7. Team Sprints: Engage in team sprints to ensure that product development can deliver high-quality features and services on schedule.
  8. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Engineering Managers/Directors and the Development team to ensure the delivery of high-quality features and services.
  9. Evaluation and Cross-Training: Evaluate and cross-train the team to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver the support the business needs.
  10. Leadership and Strategy: Collaborate with cross-department leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and services on schedule, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and time zones.
  3. 7-10 years of experience managing a Technical Operations team, with a proven track record of building, growing, and mentoring technical operations teams.
  4. A proven track record of using Jira and working in a Sprint-based environment.
  5. Ability to manage multiple high-priority efforts in parallel while ensuring the highest quality.
  6. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  7. Experience with GCP and deployment automation tools.
