The challenge – Textile Waste Management is a significant issue, with millions of tons of non-reusable materials ending up in landfills. Current recycling methods are inefficient, turning less than 1% of non-reusable materials into new textiles.
The solution – Our Advanced Recycling Technology can separate, decontaminate, and extract polyester and cotton from non-reusable textiles and polyester packaging. We are seeking a skilled professional to join our R&D Team and contribute to the development of this innovative technology.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Research Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments, collaborating with engineering colleagues, and contributing to the development of our recycling technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement laboratory experiments to advance the goals of our R&D team and wider business.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering colleagues to support technology scale-up and development.
- Assist in producing high-quality risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and SOPs.
- Manage project timelines and laboratory upkeep, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements:
- At least a BSc in Chemistry or a related subject.
- Competent theoretical and practical skills regarding design and implementation of experiments.
- Technically creative and a rigorous approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent written and oral presentation skills.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude, with a willingness to collaborate with others.
Desirable:
- MSc/MPhil qualification in chemistry or a relevant natural science.
- Practical/R&D experience of handling, synthesis, and characterization of polymers.
- Experience of designing and implementing bespoke laboratory tests and equipment.
