About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team at HMP Winchester. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our substance misuse services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with substance misuse issues, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Deliver a range of evidence-based interventions, including clinical and psychosocial therapies, to support patients in achieving recovery.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, initiate and review treatment plans, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatment, including medication management and potential side effects, and collaborate with prescribers to ensure optimal care.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in Nursing (Mental Health) and a valid registration with the NMC.
  • Experience working with patients with substance misuse issues, preferably in a secure environment.
  • Knowledge of substance misuse treatment options and evidence-based interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
