About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Practitioner to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Clinical Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing high-quality sexual health services to our patients, including young people and LGBTQI+ groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake independent consultations with patients, assessing, monitoring, and evaluating their contraceptive and sexual health needs, with referral to other healthcare professionals as required.
  • Issue methods of contraception and provide STI screening and treatment according to Patient Group Directions and clinical protocols.
  • Encourage partner attendance and treatment when necessary.
  • Provide advice and provision around cytology screening and HIV prevention as appropriate, according to local policies.
  • Work flexibly within community and clinical settings.
  • Be aware of all the Trust's policies and guidelines and ensure all actions are carried out accordingly.
  • Support colleagues and take responsibility for the smooth running of the day-to-day provision.
Requirements
  • First-level Registered Nurse/Midwife qualification.
  • Contraception (family planning) ENB R71/901 qualification.
  • Higher qualification in genitourinary medicine or willingness to undertake.
  • Completed or currently studying at degree or masters level (health-related).
  • Post-registration certification in mentorship/teaching and assessing (ENB 998/997 or equivalent).
  • A willingness and ability to work towards completion of specialist/advanced training and hold Certification in IUD insertion (RCN or FFPRHC).
  • Completion of specialist/advanced training and hold Certification in subdermal implant fitting and removal (RCN or FFPRHC).
  • Willingness to undertake nurse prescribing course.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrable post-registration experience of working within Sexual Health/Contraception field, including at least evidence at senior level.
  • Recent experience of working with young people within Sexual Health/Contraception field.
Key Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to undertake cytology and act as cytology mentor.
  • Ability to undertake sample collection for STI screening testing.
  • Ability to undertake comprehensive sexual, medical, and family history at client consultation, including first issue of hormonal contraception and treatment of STIs according to PGDs.
  • Evidence of ability to relate to the needs of young people.
  • Ability to act as a clinical mentor within the service.
  • Ability to provide formal training to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to undertake Personal Development Plans for designated staff following appropriate training.
  • To facilitate Clinical Supervisor after appropriate training.
