Customs Coordinator Job Description

Temp Station Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Customs Coordinator to join our team in Normanton. As a key member of our freight forwarding team, you will be responsible for coordinating the import and export of products and components in and out of the UK, ensuring strict compliance with all applicable import and export regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate customs clearance operations, liaising with international operators to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
  • Update internal customs systems and request or compile necessary documentation, such as customs invoices and certificates of origin.
  • Clear goods through customs, calculating duty and tariff payments owed on shipments.
  • Advise internal operators on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, and insurance requirements.
  • Maintain proactive inter-departmental coordination to process shipments on time.
  • Attend to queries and update internal operators on shipment status.
  • Invoice internally for custom-processed shipments and maintain records of shipments with issues.
  • Ensure internal operators comply with customs clearance procedures and escalate any internal issues to managers.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work under pressure and cope during high-volume peaks.
  • Good team player with ability to work on individual tasks.
  • Ambitious with a view to progress within the company.
