Essential Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is mandatory; additional coursework in the human services domain is advantageous. A minimum of two years of experience in administrative support, clerical duties, or direct customer service within social services or a related field is required (three years preferred). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience in local government or public administration is a plus. Candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills, effective oral and written communication, and exceptional customer service abilities. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, electronic records management, and basic spreadsheet functions is essential. Familiarity with electronic databases and information systems is desirable. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure while managing multiple data sources. Proficiency in Spanish, both spoken and written, is preferred. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. Candidates must not have accumulated six or more demerit points in the past twenty-four months, nor any major violations in the last thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be provided at the time of the interview, showing at least three years of history, dated within thirty days of the interview. Pre-employment drug screening, FBI background checks, and verification of education/degree are mandatory.

Responsibilities

The role involves a variety of tasks to assist the Administration and Finance Division of the Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the daily operations of the Agency. Key duties involve effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, managing supply orders and inventory, document scanning, faxing, filing, and providing customer service at the front desk or call center. Data entry tasks may involve handling confidential and sensitive information, processing work orders, and addressing operational challenges. The position requires interaction with a diverse clientele from the County and City. All employees are expected to participate in an Emergency Shelter Team, reporting for duty when shelters are activated. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
