Position Overview: We are seeking a committed professional with a keen interest in Fetal Medicine, alongside a robust background in general obstetrics and gynaecology. Our primary aim is to enhance our specialized offerings in Fetal Medicine, complex pregnancy terminations, and bereavement support, while simultaneously advancing the Quality and Safety strategy of our Directorate.

Role Significance: This position is integral to our consultant expansion project, which aims to increase our team from 17 to 20 members. We are implementing distinct acute obstetric and gynaecological coverage during the 'hot week' system, with Obstetric 'hot weeks' occurring every 1 in 22 weeks and gynaecological 'hot weeks' scheduled every 1 in 18 weeks. Our obstetric services are primarily based at our main hospital, complemented by additional Birth Centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and enhance Fetal Medicine services
  • Contribute to complex pregnancy termination and bereavement support services
  • Engage in the consultant expansion initiative
  • Provide essential coverage during 'hot weeks' for both obstetric and gynaecological services

About Us: Our organization is dedicated to delivering high-quality care, with nearly 6000 births annually across our units. We also manage gynaecology inpatients and emergencies, supported by early pregnancy services and day-case offerings.
