Are you an experienced Manufacturing Engineer seeking a new and rewarding opportunity? We are in search of a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to become a vital part of our team at Leonardo. Your primary responsibility will be to devise effective solutions that facilitate the seamless transition of our innovative products from the design phase into full-scale production. You will be expected to independently plan and execute your tasks, manage medium-term planning objectives, and provide intricate technical guidance to both internal stakeholders and external partners.

As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will join a dedicated team focused on developing, refining, and supporting manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring the delivery of top-tier products.

Key Responsibilities include:

Crafting manufacturing processes by analyzing product specifications; researching, designing, modifying, and testing production methods and machinery; gathering feedback from operators, and collaborating with equipment suppliers or external partners. Organizing and preparing for Manufacturing Maturity Reviews, maintaining oversight through the Lifecycle Management process, and creating, contributing to, or leading Manufacturing Plans. Delivering manufacturing decision-making insights along with resolution strategies by reviewing production timelines, labor and material costs, and forecasting future needs; compiling product and process reports through data collection, analysis, and summarization of trends. Addressing complex product and production challenges by alleviating bottlenecks on the shop floor and responding promptly to escalations from manufacturing teams. Enhancing manufacturing efficiency through capacity assessments, simulation planning, workflow optimization, spatial requirements analysis, and equipment layout design. Reviewing manufacturing documentation, which may include contributing to process-specific risk assessments, COSHH data, technical reports, and specifications. Ensuring product and process quality by designing methodologies; validating and verifying process capabilities; establishing standards; and confirming manufacturing procedures. Participating in failure investigations and applying problem-solving techniques. Maintaining manufacturing data, including routings, production plans, control plans, and electronic work instructions. Identifying continuous improvement initiatives to enhance skills and competencies within the Manufacturing Engineering team. Completing improvement and development projects by training and collaborating with the manufacturing engineering community. Fostering a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge utilization. Mentoring and coaching junior team members to enhance overall team capabilities. Providing domain expertise to support customer engagement and product roadmaps. Upholding product and company reputation by adhering to regulatory standards. Holding a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or possessing equivalent experience. Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and principles. Exhibiting strong people management and leadership skills, including effective performance and change management capabilities. Leveraging data and analysis to influence and negotiate with stakeholders. Possessing a detailed understanding of operational frameworks and business processes. Recognizing the impact of cross-functional and commercial business processes. Taking ownership of work packages; planning and scheduling personal and team workloads. Understanding project work dynamics and how team contributions affect broader project activities. Demonstrating knowledge and experience across multiple phases of the Product Life Cycle and associated processes. Engaging in peer reviews of team members' work and ensuring implementation of resulting actions. Understanding the risk/reward dynamics related to engineering activities and informing product team activities. Communicating complex concepts in an accessible manner. Displaying confidence and capability to address technical and process-related issues. Interacting effectively with customers and suppliers. Participating in capability and process development, showcasing an ability to implement changes in working practices. Gaining experience in developing manufacturing capabilities and understanding Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory principles.
