Position Overview
The Chief/Lead Marine Electricians (ETOs) on PLSVs play a crucial role in overseeing all electrical and electronic systems onboard, ensuring the operational safety and efficiency of the vessel while reporting directly to the Chief Engineer. ETOs collaborate with engineering and nautical teams to address challenges related to machinery and electro-hydraulic technologies, guaranteeing safe operations and regular maintenance of power generation, propulsion, auxiliary systems, and other electromechanical and electronic components.
Key Responsibilities
- Become proficient with machines and electrical-electronic systems to ensure rapid restoration of essential services during emergencies.
- Understand and adhere to company policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Assist in research tasks as directed by senior personnel.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all manuals and drawings are current.
- Inform the Chief Engineer about equipment replacements and workshop needs.
- Stay updated on relevant codes of practice.
- Keep the Deputy Chief and Chief Engineer informed about work progress and report any defects or issues.
- Gain familiarity with the electrical systems onboard, particularly the SCR system.
- Be trained as the Person Responsible for the Permit to Work System (PTW) and isolations (Level 3).
Qualifications
You are a suitable candidate if you possess:
- Completed training as an Electrical Technician.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English, particularly in conversation.

Additional Skills
- Familiarity with the vessel's DP and PMS systems.
- Understanding of the vessel's FMEA.

- BOSIET / FOET - foreign
- STCW - Fast Rescue Vessel Course (CERR)
- STCW – Special Medical First Aid (EPSM)
- STCW - Special Advanced Fire Fighting (ECIA)
- STCW – Special Proficiency in Survival and Rescue Craft (EESS)
- STCW - Professional Qualification for Design of High Voltage Installations (HPAV2)
