Learning Support Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a thriving primary school in Stevenage. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students in small groups or one-to-one, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO
  • Assist with lesson planning, delivery, and resource development tailored to individual needs
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Promote positive behavior and social interaction among students, intervening when necessary to manage challenging behavior
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, preferably in a school setting
  • Good knowledge of the national curriculum and teaching strategies for students with SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • A positive, empathetic, and patient attitude, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A willingness to undertake training and professional development
