Overview of the Role

BSI is experiencing significant growth, driven by a comprehensive technology transformation across the organization. We are seeking an Enterprise Applications Architect to play a crucial role in this evolution.

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, you will align with the strategic direction set by the IT Strategy and Architecture Director. Your expertise will be essential in maximizing the strategic benefits of our technology investments by:

  • Navigating the entire application lifecycle, from strategic planning through various implementation methodologies to operational support and eventual decommissioning.
  • Ensuring that SaaS platforms remain current and integrated within our application ecosystem.
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of our IT infrastructure, software development practices, and architectural standards.
  • Being well-versed in our IT strategy, policies, and standards, with a solid understanding of risk management and change control.
  • Effectively communicating with senior leadership and project teams.
  • Recognizing the significance of commercial considerations in technology decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise application architectures that align with the organization's future vision and strategic principles.
  • Define strategies for keeping application suites current, including creating comprehensive roadmaps.
  • Advise stakeholders on upcoming functionalities and the implications of emerging technologies.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and their potential impact on BSI's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure system designs meet specific requirements and adhere to established architectural standards.
  • Formulate organizational policies and guidelines for systems design and promote adherence to these standards.
  • Lead the development of application investment strategies that align with business needs and performance constraints.
  • Utilize innovative approaches to create a credible application strategy that aligns with business objectives.
  • Develop transition and implementation plans for new applications, considering various constraints and clearly outlining costs and benefits.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Strong understanding of strategic issues and expertise in the systems development lifecycle.
  • Practical knowledge of IT infrastructure and software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with organizational IT strategies and risk management practices.
  • Proficiency in project risk management.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with business acumen.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • TOGAF Certification and a Certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture (Practitioner) are preferred.
