Engineering Manager Job Description

At Depop, we're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Core API team. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you'll be responsible for guiding a talented team of engineers in delivering high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their success and growth.
  • Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to drive technical decision-making and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Work closely with production engineering teams to improve the developer experience and deliver value quicker.
  • Partner with data engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely data for data scientists.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineering teams to ensure systems and services are up-to-date, available, performant, and secure.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role, with a passion for technical leadership and people management.
  • Strong knowledge of systems design, cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP), and programming languages (Python, Java, Scala).
  • Ability to facilitate technical decision-making, drive positive interactions, and promote a culture of inclusion and respect.
  • Experience building high-traffic systems servicing thousands of concurrent users.
  • Passion for building a user-obsessed platform that prioritizes sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
