About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuarial Investment Analyst to join our team in Gloucester. As a key member of our actuarial team, you will play a crucial role in providing expert capital modelling and actuarial advice to support our investment and business decision-making processes.

As a Senior Actuarial Investment Analyst, you will be responsible for leading the design and calibration of our capital model, working closely with the Head of Investments to deliver investment analysis and strategy. You will also be responsible for monitoring changes in our ESG model and analysing their impact on our capital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and calibration of our capital model, ensuring it accurately reflects our investment risk profile and current economic conditions.
  • Deliver investment analysis and strategy, working closely with the Head of Investments to ensure alignment with our business objectives.
  • Monitor changes in our ESG model and analyse their impact on our capital, ensuring we remain compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Present and justify changes in model design and calibration to a panel of actuarial managers for independent challenge.
  • Prepare reports for our internal model governance oversight committee, summarising changes to our market risk and ESG model design or calibration.
  • Design solutions to close model weaknesses and limitations identified in respect of market risk modelling.
  • Maintain market risk and ESG documentation for our internal capital model, including model output analysis, calibration, and methodology.
  • Lead the development of investment data solutions to support model inputs in respect of our investment portfolio.
  • Contribute to discussions within the team or department as required.
  • Participate in technical actuarial discussions on market risk and actuarial concepts covered in professional studies.
  • Act as a key contact on market risk for our actuarial teams, finance, and ESG provider.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant math-based subject, with 6+ exams achieved in actuarial studies.
  • Relevant experience within an actuarial role, with a strong understanding of capital modelling and investment analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and present complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technical skill set, with the ability to apply existing knowledge to new situations.
  • Demonstrates sound and commercial judgement, with the ability to design practical and proportionate solutions.
  • Proven willingness and ability to engage with and challenge the business.
  • Desirable: previous experience working in investments, experience of Igloo software.
