Safety Engineering Consultant

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Engineering Consultant to support our clients in the Defence sector. The ideal candidate will ensure that safety engineering activities are compliant, effectively implemented, and tailored to meet specific requirements. You will become part of a dedicated and expanding team focused on Defence projects across various air platforms, including fixed wing, rotary, and autonomous systems. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of RINA's safety advisory services.
Work Environment:
This position offers flexibility, allowing you to work from our various offices or remotely, as RINA embraces a smart/hybrid working model. While occasional travel within the UK is necessary, residing near an office is not a strict requirement. We are open to considering part-time arrangements as well.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead diverse safety audit engagements, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and maintenance of high-quality standards.
- Manage projects independently or oversee a small team to achieve project objectives.
- Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and comprehensive reports.
- Promote RINA's safety capabilities to clients through expert advice, relationship building, and presentations.
- Support the safety management team in enhancing safety services to address emerging market needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of ten years' experience in safety engineering management, with a focus on executing safety audit initiatives.
- Expertise in airworthiness, capable of managing complex safety assessments across various air systems and environmental considerations.
- Familiarity with UK MOD air platforms and the associated procurement processes.
- Experience with safety engineering tools such as Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, ETA, or FTA.
- Knowledge of Defence Standards, including Def Stan 00-056 and Def Stan 00-51.
- Some understanding of ASEMS, POSMS, and POEMS processes.
- An engineering background is essential.
- UK Security Clearance is preferred; candidates must be British citizens willing to undergo vetting.
