JOB OBJECTIVE
A visit to our dining establishments is a vital aspect of the overall experience for both tourists and locals. With two distinct culinary outlets, we offer a diverse selection to satisfy all visitor preferences. The primary café features expansive ceilings, large windows, and a lush environment, providing guests with a unique indoor-outdoor ambiance. With a blend of seating options, we cater to everyone, from those seeking a quick snack to those enjoying a leisurely meal.
The secondary outlet, situated in a recreational area, allows families to enjoy playtime while savoring quality beverages and desserts. We take pride in delivering a warm atmosphere, exceptional service, and a delightful menu, featuring homemade soups, hearty meals, and a variety of sweet treats, including our renowned scones and specialty beverages. We are in search of a dedicated Visitor Services Coordinator to ensure outstanding visitor experiences and effective supervision in our culinary outlets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Visitor Experience
- Provide exemplary customer service and ensure all team members uphold the same standard.
- Maintain high standards and a consistently welcoming environment within the culinary department.
- Serve as part of the management team, responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient visitor operation, including opening/closing procedures and addressing any issues that arise.
- Collaborate closely with various departments across the organization.
- Foster strong relationships with the local community to encourage repeat visits.
Culinary Operations
- Plan, prepare, and present food of the highest quality.
- Ensure timely preparation and service of food.
- Lead menu development to ensure a high-quality food and beverage offering.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and environmental health requirements, maintaining accurate records.
- Manage stock effectively, including ordering, storage, and minimizing waste.
Team Management
- Oversee the activities of a team of permanent and seasonal staff, ensuring excellent performance through effective training and coaching.
- Prepare work schedules and manage holiday allocations to meet operational needs.
- Collaborate with specialized advisory teams to enhance service delivery.
- Promote a culture of health and safety within the culinary operations.
Financial Management
- Share responsibility for achieving the culinary budget alongside the management team.
- Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies to maximize sales opportunities.
- Supervise daily financial operations and perform end-of-day reconciliations.
- Assist with menu costing and inventory management.
- Understand and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Performance Indicators and Targets
- Achieve weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets.
- Maintain food compliance standards and accurate record-keeping.
- Monitor visitor satisfaction through feedback and surveys.
Tools / Equipment / Systems
- Access to necessary technology and systems for people management, training, and financial monitoring.
- Utilize point-of-sale systems and financial management tools.
- Operate fully equipped commercial kitchens.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
Qualifications
Essential
- Level 2 Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience in coffee preparation.
- A valid driving license.
Desirable
- Formal qualifications in Catering, Hospitality, or related fields.
- Recognized licensing qualifications.
- First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in supervising a busy culinary environment.
- Passion for food and exceptional customer service.
- Proactive and able to take initiative.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
- Strong leadership and team support skills.
- Experience in financial management and cash handling.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Understanding of the mission and values of the organization.
DIMENSIONS AND SCOPE OF JOB
Role Overview
The culinary services currently generate significant income, with plans for growth and expansion of services. The role involves physical activity, including tours of facilities and some lifting. The position may require evening and weekend work due to the nature of the business. The successful candidate may also need to travel for meetings and errands.
